A sufficient amount of bone tissue is essential for proper implant placement. As early as the implant treatment planning stage, we assess the width of the alveolar ridge, the distance to the maxillary sinus, and the course of the nerve canal.
In cases of bone deficiency, we plan reconstructive procedures. For large bone deficits, it is necessary to perform a bone graft in the first stage, followed by implant placement several months later. If the bone deficits are smaller, it is possible to combine both procedures into a single surgery.
The durability of dental implants is also influenced by the quality of the gum tissue surrounding the implant. Healthy, stable soft tissues protect the bone from bacterial invasion and are essential for the long-term success of implant treatment.

What are the contraindications for implant placement?
The main contraindications are: uncontrolled diabetes, advanced osteoporosis, active cancer, and certain autoimmune diseases. Other contraindications include pregnancy, heavy smoking, and poor oral hygiene.
How long does recovery take after an implant is placed?
Soft tissue healing takes about 7–14 days. However, the key process is osseointegration—the fusion of the implant with the bone—which takes 3 to 6 months. After this time, the final crown can be placed. The patient usually returns to normal activities within a few to several days after the procedure.

The lower age limit is the end of bone growth (approximately 18–21 years). There is virtually no upper age limit. Eligibility for the procedure is determined by the patient’s overall health and bone condition, not by age. The procedures are successfully performed even on people over 80 years of age.
