Is general anaesthesia safe?
Yes. At the Impladent Clinic, these procedures are performed by an experienced anesthesia team following a prior medical evaluation. Modern medications and vital sign monitoring minimize the risk of complications. From the moment the patient arrives for the procedure until they leave the clinic, they are under the care of both the anesthesia and dental teams. The patient’s comfort and safety are our top priorities.
Do you need to see a doctor before undergoing general anaesthesia?
This is how the initial evaluation of a patient’s eligibility for surgery under general anaesthesia takes place during the consultation. The dentist assesses the patient’s health, orders tests, and determines the scope of dental treatment. The test results are reviewed by anesthesiologist, who ultimately determines whether the patient is eligible for the procedure. Patient safety is the top priority.
When is general anaesthesia used in dentistry?
Most commonly seen in: · people with severe dental anxiety (dentophobia), · people who are uncooperative during treatment in a standard dental chair, · patients with disabilities, · for extensive dental procedures (e.g., extractions of multiple teeth, wisdom tooth removal, jaw reconstructions)
Can you drive after surgery under general anaesthesia?
No. After the procedure, the patient may leave the clinic only if accompanied by another person. The patient must not drive or operate machinery for at least 24 hours.
Can there be side effects after general anaesthesia?
Occasionally, patients may experience mild drowsiness or fatigue, a sore or irritated throat after intubation, or temporary nausea. These symptoms usually subside within a few hours.
